Each year a Corporate Matsuri Event (“Event”) is held as part of the Japan Festival Week. The Event continues the celebration of the longstanding relationship and friendship between Western Australia and Japan.
The Event would not be possible without the continuing support of our important sponsors.
These include Rio Tinto (Founding Partner), Woodside, Lotterywest, City of Perth, INPEX, Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Perth, Office of Multicultural and Interests (OMI), the Consulate General of Japan in Perth and recently Singapore Airlines, HIS Travel and Perth Airport.
Attendees include a wide range of industry executives from both Australian and Japanese organisations and relevant Government officials.
Our past VIPs have included the Honourable Richard Court (Present Australian Ambassador to Japan), the former WA Premier Collin Barnett, Governor of Western Australia and the Mayor of Perth.
The Event has provided the opportunity to introduce aspects of Japanese culture. This has included a group performance by Kurodabushi (the art of Samurai spirit) from Kobe, Maiko (apprentice of Geisha) from Kyoto, local chorus groups singing Japanese songs and the tasting of premium Japanese sake, an integral part of the matsuri culture.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Japan Festival in Perth in 2018, a key attraction will be a prominent trombonist from Japan, sponsored by the Japanese Government, to perform at various venues in Perth throughout the festival week. We are also very excited to welcome performances by WASO and WA Ballet with their principal Japanese dancers, followed by a garden reception with a strong Japanese theme including the launch of the Okinawa Prefecture’s premium local beer brand “Orion Beer”.
The Corporate Matsuri Event will be held at Government House on Tuesday, 6 March 2018.
