Tourism and Culture Information

2. Overview of the Festival

This year, the Japan Festival was held on Saturday 7th of March. The event was expanded this year by utilising the space previously taken by the water fountains at Forrest Place. There were 26 marquees in total. Numerous stage performances as well as food stalls and entertainment were provided to attract people from all ages.

The event was held from 1 pm to 8 pm. During that time, there were no significant problems or accidents at the festival. We had an estimated arrival of 15,000 people throughout the day, which was an increase by 50% compared to the previous year. It was certainly a successful event for everyone present and a great chance to enjoy the exchange of culture between Australia and Japan.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the support of local volunteers. The Japan Festival Association recruited volunteers through the website. In total, there were a significant number of volunteers who supported the event on the day, performing tasks such as photographing, cleaning-up, and setting-up the stage. The Association is truly grateful for their support.
